Good Afternoon Year 2,
Well the weather has certainly gone downhill this week, fingers crossed it will pick up next week, especially for Friday. I am very much looking forward to seeing you on Friday, for our circle time and some fun games. Although it is not the end of year I had planned, it will be lovely to see you all. Even with the weather, I managed to get out on my bike yesterday for a few miles, before the rain came down!
Please can you keep sending in the pictures of any learning you have been completing at home. I always enjoy seeing your smiling faces. Remember my email is year2@stpeter.doncaster.sch.uk. I have attached next week’s home learning activities below. If you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email.
Take care,

I hope you are all continuing to keep yourselves safe and well. The poem above reminds us that we are never alone, even when it might feel like we are. I heard it earlier in the week and thought it was very poignant, especially at this uncertain time. The weather looks lovely for next week, so make sure you take some time to enjoy yourselves and relax with your families.
As this would have been half-term, I am not setting the usual amount of work to complete. Instead, I have included some fun activities you may wish to complete.

Stay safe Year 2,

RE- During this time of the year, we would be looking at the sacrament of reconciliation. The friends of Jesus asked him about forgiving people who had hurt them. Peter thought it would be good to forgive them seven times and that would be quite hard to do. Peter was surprised when Jesus told him that you have to keep on forgiving, but he did say that the person who had done wrong should say sorry and really mean it.
Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘If my friend keeps hurting me, how many times do I have to forgive him/her? Seven times?
‘No, not seven times,’ answered Jesus, ‘but seventy times seven.’
Based on Matthew 18: 21-22.

Well another week has gone by, with the school being strangely quiet. We are all missing your smiling faces being in front of us each day. Although this is a very difficult time for us all, remember to treasure the time spent with your families, as it is the most precious thing we have. I hope you have enjoyed the lovely sunshine we have had again (I know I have), I’m not sure that it is going to stay for all of next week though.
I have attached next weeks home learning activities below. If you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to contact me on year2@stpeter.doncaster.sch.uk Also if you have any pictures of you completing your home learning, you can always send the pictures through to me and I will post them on the webpage, so we can share our learning experiences.
I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well.
Take care,
Mr Ward.

Good Afternoon Year 2,

However, don’t worry, as when we get back to school, I will make sure we have some really fun activities to complete. I already have some ideas in the pipe line.

I hope you are all continuing to keep yourselves safe and well. It feels very strange that this is the end of term and that it is a Bank Holiday weekend. I would normally be looking forward to going to the coast at some point soon, but I’m sure I’ll have time for that when it is safe to do so.
As this would have been our Easter holidays, I am not setting the usual amount of work to complete. Instead, I have included some suggestive activities you may wish to complete.
Finish off any home learning activities previously set
Have a go at some of the science experiments from the document below
There are some arts and crafts activities at https://www.thebestideasforkids.com/easter-crafts-for-kids/
There are some ideas using photography at https://www.tots100.co.uk/2013/05/14/10-photography-activities-for-kids/

Joe Wicks is still completing his daily workouts over the Easter holidays as well. Just go to https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 at 9am every weekday morning.
Remember to enjoy this time with your families and take care of yourselves!
Stay safe Year 2,
Mr Ward.
Good Morning Year 2,
What a lovely day, today,
All the clouds have gone away.
The sun is shining in the sky,
As the birds are flying by.
It is lovely to see the sun shining today, hopefully this will carry on throughout the week. I hope you have managed to complete some of your home learning so far and are enjoying the activities set. As well as completing the home learning activities, remember to enjoy this precious time with your families and make the most of the lovely weather, be this in your garden, or through your daily exercise. Remember, if you have any pictures of you completing your home learning, you can always send the pictures through and I will post them on the webpage, so we can share our learning experiences.
Stay safe and take care, I hope to see you all soon,
Mr Ward.

Week Commencing 6th April 2020- Home Learning Tasks
Phonics- Continue to recap phase 5 sounds from the powerpoint below.
Complete/recap spelling rule 7, 8 and 9 from https://spellingframe.co.uk/

Writing- With it being the run up to Easter, I thought it would be nice to link our writing and RE together this week. Therefore, for writing this week, can you retell the Easter Story in your own words. I have attached a powerpoint to help remind you of the sequence in which it happens. Remember this can be completed over the week, so on one day you can read and remind yourself of the story; on another day you could plan it by drawing pictures of what happens; and then on another day, you could write your own version of the story.
Maths- For Maths this week we will continue on our fractions unit. I have attached the work below. If you go to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ there are videos and answers for the work provided.
*Please do not worry about printing off your activities. You can either copy them into your home learning book, or just write down the answers if this is easier for you.*
Science- Go into the garden or look outside your windows, draw a picture of a flower and label the key parts of it using the words, flower, stem, leaves and roots. Do the same for a tree and then label it using the words, leaves, branches, trunk and roots.
Art/DT- Again, with it being the run up to Easter, can you design your own cross for Jesus? Afterwards, you can either decorate or make your cross? Remember you can send me your designs if you would like and will try and post them on the webpage.
PE- Complete the daily Joe Wicks workouts on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Writing- Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Jnk3XApKBg the story of Superworm. Stop the video 3 minutes in. Can you create your own cunning plan to save Superworm? Before you start writing, you could draw pictures of your plan to help you develop some ideas. Remember, you don't need to complete this all in one day.

Good Afternoon Year 2,
I hope you are all keeping yourselves safe and well! It feels very different planning via the webpage, rather than planning to be in front of you all tomorrow morning, but these are the current circumstances we are in at the minute and we have to try and make the best out of it. I do wish I were seeing all of your smiling faces tomorrow, rather than looking at my laptop screen.
I have uploaded next weeks work, I hope it all makes sense. Remember if you do have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me via email at year2@stpeter.doncaster.sch.uk
Finally don't forget I have created an account for everyone to access Numbots and Times tables rockstars (an online maths programme) so you can test out your maths knowledge. If you want to find out your login details just email me and I will send them to you.
Take care,
Mr Ward
