School Climate Action Plan and Sustainability

🌱 Our School's Climate Action Journey!

Welcome to our dedicated page for Climate Action and Sustainability at St Peter's.

We believe that caring for our planet starts right here, with our youngest learners. We are proud to be following the Department for Education's (DfE) requirement that all schools develop a Climate Action Plan by 2025. This isn't just a tick-box exercise—it's a vital commitment to protecting the environment and preparing our children for a sustainable future.

We are currently growing and improving this plan all the time. We are working closely with the St Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust and our other school partners to share ideas, best practices, and new strategies to make our school and community greener.

Our plan will provide ideas and plans for our whole school community—pupils, staff, and families—to take real, practical steps in four key areas:

  • Decarbonisation (reducing our school's carbon footprint)

  • Adaptation and Resilience (preparing for the effects of climate change, like heat and flooding)

  • Biodiversity (making our school grounds better for nature) Bee image

  • Climate Education (learning about climate change and green skills in our lessons)

We are excited to share our journey with you and show how every small action our pupils take—from recycling to growing plants—makes a big difference!
