Tuesday 19th May
What a busy and exciting first day we have had on residential!
Our adventure began with a visit to the Grace Darling Museum, where the children learnt about Grace Darling and her bravery in helping to rescue survivors from a shipwreck off the Northumberland coast many years ago. The children enjoyed exploring the museum and taking some time to reflect on her life and legacy.
Afterwards, we enjoyed the drive across the causeway onto the island, with everyone excited to catch sight of our home for the week. Once we arrived, the children quickly settled in, unpacked their bags and tackled the challenge of making their beds!
We managed a short walk around part of the island, spotting some of the smaller churches and taking in the beautiful surroundings before the heavens opened and we made a very soggy return to camp! Thankfully, everyone soon dried off and enjoyed some well-earned downtime before tea.
This evening, the children spent time together playing games in the quad and enjoying each other’s company. To finish off a wonderful first day, we are planning a cosy hot chocolate before bed, ready for another active and exciting day tomorrow.
All children are happy, settled and already making fantastic memories!
