Attendance

At St Peter’s we are committed to providing high quality education and improving outcomes for all our pupils. In order for a child to reach their full potential, we expect a high level of school attendance, so they are able to maximise their learning and achievement.

The school target is 97%

It is appreciated young people sometimes become unwell, however medical advice is clear that children with mild illness will often be well enough to attend - for example if they have a cough, or cold, without a temperature. The NHS guidance 'Is my child too ill for school?' is designed to support parents in their decision making about mild illness. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

Any child with an attendance of below 90% is classed as a persistent absentee by the Local Authority who monitor school attendance closely.
